Blue Valley North High School marches 2 full bands and 2 full shows each season. The Upperclassmen Band and the Combined Band, which includes the Freshmen class, perform at each home football game as well as at area Contests and Festivals.

Derby High School Marching Panther Band

The band has been invited to perform in many special events. Most recently the band performed in Washington D.C. as apart of the World War II Monument dedication as well as the Memorial Day Parade. In 1997, the band participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California.

Under director Cary Stahly, the Marching Vikes received 1s in all contest they were in. They first got straight ones in a contest they hosted which included local bands. Then, in the Capital City Marching Festival at Washburn, they walked away with top victorious. Then, at the Neewollah Marching Festival in Independence, they walked away as Grand Champions in one of the most prestigious festivals in Kansas, outscoring 31 other bands from 3 states.
